Bean Balance is designed to work fully offline. There are no user accounts, no analytics SDKs, no advertising networks, and no servers of ours that receive your personal data.
Data stored on your device only:
- Tasting journal entries (coffee name, origin, brew method, ratings, flavor notes, freeform notes, and any attached photos), favorites, quiz scores, streaks, achievements and app preferences are saved locally in the app's private storage and are included in your standard iOS device backups. This data is never transmitted to us or any third party.
Camera: Requested only when you choose to take a photo for a journal entry — the cup you just brewed or the bag the beans came in. The photo is saved directly into that entry, on your device. The app does not access the camera for any other purpose.
Photo Library: Requested when you choose to attach an existing photo to a journal entry, or when you save a globe snapshot. The app only reads the photo you select or writes the image you save — it never scans or uploads your library.
Location: Requested only when you use the "origins near you" feature to sort coffee-growing regions by distance. Your location is used momentarily, on-device, to perform this sorting and is never stored, logged, or sent to any server.
Face ID / Touch ID: Used only if you enable the optional journal lock. Authentication is handled entirely by Apple's Local Authentication framework and iOS; the app receives only a success/failure result and never accesses or stores any biometric data.
Notifications: Requested through the standard iOS notification prompt only when you switch on the optional daily brew reminder. The reminder is a local notification scheduled on your device, involves no network communication, and can be disabled at any time in the app's Settings or in iOS Settings.
Your rights and control: You can delete individual journal entries or use "Reset all data" in Settings to erase all app data at any time. Deleting the app removes all associated data from your device. Because Bean Atlas does not operate servers that store your personal information, there is no remote copy of your data for us to access, retain, or delete.
